Brother SE270D Computerized Sewing and Embroidery Machine: Discover Why Sewing is Fun

By Michelle Robert

When I was young, my mother sewed my clothes, and practically everything else. It was the era when every girl learned to sew as a necessity, and most women sewed as a way to save money.

I also learned how to sew, but by the time I became an adult, sewing had lost its popularity as a way to create garments economically, and the idea of something being "home-made" was not a compliment. Plus, with the rise of outlets and discount stores, it was often possible to buy an item cheaper than you could make it anyway, so sewing seemed a bit pointless.

But then I had my daughter and my sewing genes emerged. I guess my artistic side yearned to make beautiful items and wanted a challenge for my creativity. Interestingly, my interest in sewing coincided with the renaissance of sewing and crafts in general, as many folks discovered the satisfaction that comes from creating something is "hand-made".

No longer were people sewing out of economic necessity: I, and millions of others, sewed because it was a great way to be creative! We sewed because it was fun, relaxing and kept us creatively challenged. We sewed because we wanted to, unlike our mothers who sewed because they had to.

And this sewing world we are in now is certainly not that of our mothers! Sewing machines, for example, have come a long way from the basic running stitch! Our machines are now computerized, providing endless versatility, a wide variety of stitches and patterns, and even embroidery options.

The Brother SE270D Computerized Sewing and Embroidery Machine is a wonderful example of one of these "all-in-one" machines that provide us with so many fun things to create! With 97 embroidery designs, there is a huge amount of versatility. There are even 5 built-in embroidery monogram fonts in 3 different sizes, so that you can create an unbelievable variety of emblems, logos, and insignias. There is just no limit to the possibilities, or to the fun for that matter.

Of course, sewing can reap financial rewards as well: you can save money making your own garments, and you can generate income making or altering them for others. But for me, as for many others, the greatest reward from sewing comes from the joy of the creation. - 30408
